Pivot as a Silverlight control? Sounds good!

It’s a neat idea to deliver a visualization front-end as a multimedia control that can be integrated with your website. As I stumble upon various websites which obviously have databases as back-ends, I often wonder why a search still returns a list of items divided into pages, why a more visual browsing experience is not provided. Well, implementation might be a big issue. Delivering an interactive visual experience on the web is harder than on the desktop - we have to think and work inside the box, the browser. And it seems that a major difficulty for web-based visualization is the communication between the vis and the websites’ content management systems, an issue not adequately addressed by most existing toolkits. It seems this Pivot Silverlight control might head towards this direction and I’m curious to see what it offers. It’ll be really cool if it can even be integrated with popular Web CMS such as WordPress
